Sept. 24: All Periods

Complete the worksheet
2.4 Problem Solving Challenge
And now back by popular demand
Problem Solving:
I know that the Challenge Practices have been hard and frustrating, but it was important to see how difficult it is sometimes to find solutions - especially without a plan. This is where the Problem Solving Methodology can be very helpful. It gives us a basic process or starting points to help find answers.
We now want to look back and see how we can solve challenging problems by using a methodology (a system or way of doing something) to help guide us to finding a solution.
EXTRA CREDIT: 3 points
Print this dates assignment and get a parents signature for 5 extra points.

Sept. 15th : All Periods
Using the 6 questions/steps in Problem Solving Methodology, write and solve your own problem.
The questions:
Questions to Ask
1st What is the Problem?
2nd What do we know?
3rd What do we need to know?
4th How do we get what’s missing?
5th Testing and Solving?
6th Evaluation?
Example:
Problem: Getting driving directions to my brother's house for my Garmin.
What I know: He lives in Roodhouse on a rural route which you cannot program in. You can program in GPS locations.
What I need to know: What is the address / GPS location since his address is rural.
How Can I find it? Google maps has GPS location on it, and pictures of area. I can find it by finding Roodhouse, and following the basic road until I see his house and getting the GPS coordinates.
Testing and Solving: Found the picture of the house, got the GPS coordinates and put them into the Garmin.
Evaluation: The directions got me to the house, and I programed the location and saved it for future use.
